NEDA choose Dasanglu Pul as Hayuliang BJP candidate

ITANAGAR, Oct 26: The Peoples' Party of Arunachal (PPA) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday declared Dasanglu Pul, the third wife of former Chief Minister late Kalikho Pul as North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) candidate for Hayuliang By-Election scheduled for November 19.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that Dasanglu Pul would be NEDA candidate, contesting from BJP ticket.
The declaration was made after joint meeting of PPA-BJP which was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, BJP President Tapir Gao and PPA Chairman Kamen Ringu, PPA President Khafa Bengia and first wife of Late Pul, Dangwimsai Pul at Civil Secretariat here.
The first wife had earlier said that she would stand for the election.
CM said that family has resolved the differences and decided to field Dasanglu Pul as NEDA candidate.
Pema maintained that decision to field third wife as NEDA candidate in by-election is based on the consensus of family and the people in the constituency who feels that candidate should be someone from the Late Kalikho Pul's family.
" It was public demand that candidate should be from the family of late Kalikho Pul and the family has resolved and arrived at consensus to field third wife" said CM.
BJP President Tapir Gao informed that Dasanglu Pul's name has been sent to Party head in Delhi for the approval. Gao also informed that PPA-BJP would appeal to opposition party to let Dasanglu Pul be elected unopposed as mark of respect to late Chief Minister Kalikho Pul.
" We have this tradition in Arunachal political history, so we appeal other political parties to let the election go uncontested to pay respect to the departed soul" said Gao while appealing opposition party not to field candidate against her.
Rajkhowa seeks CBI inquiry into Kalikho Pul’s death
GUWAHATI, Oct 26: Claiming that Kalikho Pul, who allegedly committed suicide, left "explosive secret notes", Arunachal Pradesh ex-Governor Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa sought a CBI inquiry into the former chief minister's death.
"Many eminent people have informed me that Pul has left behind explosive secret notes that can shake Indian politics," Rajkhowa said.
Pul's body was found hanging at his Itanagar chief minister's bunglow on August 9.
Asked if he had seen the notes, Rajkhowa, who had demitted office last month, said, "I am not privy to the notes. I have been apprised of some of the things written there, but I wouldn't like to reveal them at this point of time."
"No question of me as the Governor then interfering in the administration and calling for the notes," Rajkhowa said.
"Many people have seen the notes. Pul's family read them. The contents have been mentioned in the social media, in the local news papers of Arunachal Pradesh and many renowned people have told me about the contents," he said.
"That is why I had written to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu to ask for an independent CBI inquiry. Khandu was very positive. But after I gave up my Governor's post, there is no response to that," he pointed out.
"A CBI enquiry can of course be ordered by the Prime Minister or Home Minister," Rajkhowa said, adding that Pul was a five-time MLA and a very popular leader and he fought against corruption.
Pul died under mysterious circumstances.
"It was unthinkable that the investigation was handed over to a sub-inspector of police and not to the CBI," the former Governor regretted.
"Only a court has to decide whether he committed suicide and not the police," Rajkhowa said, adding "I have been informed that IGP N Payeng, now investigating the case, has said the notes were sealed and handed over to a magistrate. I don't know whether to a judicial or executive magistrate," he said. He pointed out that Kalikho Pul's caretaker also had committed suicide two months later in the same building.
Pul had led a group of dissident Congress MLAs against then chief minister Nabam Tuki before taking over the reins of the state on February 19. He had to give up his CM's post in July following the Supreme Court's reinstating the government of Nabam Tuki who made way for Pema Khandu as the 10th CM of the state. PTI
11003 to vote in Hayuliang bye-election
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: A total of 11003 voters will exercise their adult franchise in 81 polling stations in the bye-election to Hayuliang constituency scheduled on November 19.
Of the total voters, 5495 are male and 5508 are females, informed CEO in a release.
Three polling stations namely 1-Kibitho, 64-Aphumna and 65-Taflagam are situated near the international border with China.
41-Hayuliang Polling Station has highest numbers of 955 electors while 52-Malogam Polling Station has only 2 electors.
Last date of filing nomination is November 2 and the last date of withdrawal of candidature is November 5. Counting will take place on November 22.
Meanwhile, the CEO held a meeting with the DC cum DEO Anjaw and SP Anjaw to review poll preparedness in Nirvachan Bhawan on October 24 which was also attended by Nodal Officer from PHQ, representatives of DC Lohit, DC Namsai and representative of BSNL.
Another meeting of political parties was held on October 25 in the Nirvachan Bhawan and sought cooperation for smooth conduct of poll.
Directions were given to the DEO Anjaw to set up few polling stations with women polling personnel only. One model polling station will also be set up amongst the international border polling stations. Necessary logistic support on polling personnel, micro observers, sector magistrates and vehicles etc. will be given by the Lohit and Namsai District Administrations.
Directions were also given to implement model code of conduct strictly and take stringent action towards the government employees who are found to be involved in political activities.
Govt asks teachers to call off strike, constitutes committee
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: The State Government has urged the agitating teachers to call off their strike as the government has constituted a Committee headed by Secretary, Education to make a detailed study and examination of their various demands for redressal as per norms.
The State Government has released the two months pending salary of February and March, 2016 from its own exchequer, which could not be released earlier due to non receipt of sufficient fund from MHRD, Gol in the last financial year, Secretary Education Bidol Tayeng said in a release.
Meanwhile, in a late night development the SSA authorities informed this daily that agitating teachers have called off the pen down strike.
Earlier, while informing the release of two months’ salary, the education secretary also urged the agitating teachers to call off their strike and perform duties in the greater interest of the students of the state.
Post Office ATM booth inaugurated

ITANAGAR, Oct 26: State's first Post Office ATM booth installed at Head Post Office was inaugurated by Director Postal Services (Hqtr) NE Circle, Shillong, Som Kamei at TT Marg here on Wednesday.
It is the tenth postal ATM being installed in the entire North East region.
'With the opening up of the ATM in Itanagar, the total number of postal ATMs in the entire North East states has risen to 10', said Director Postal Services, Kamei adding that Department of Post, GoI aims to implement Core Banking Solution (CBS) across India covering all post offices.
Kamei said that as part of the Government of India's Digital India Project, the Department of Post will be offering CBS to its customers at 25,000 post offices across India which will allow customers to access their postal savings from any of the branches where the facility is available.
While informing that CBS system has been currently introduced at Pasighat in East Siang and Mahadevpur in Namsai district, Kamei said that the focus is on the rural population of the country.
Explaining about the postal ATM card service, he said that anybody having a savings account at any Sub-Post Office can apply for the ATM card which can be used all over India at local ATMs with Rupay affiliation.
He however, informed that for now the cards will be functional at the postal ATM booth in the state only as the Department has not received the Finance Ministry's nod for interoperability with other banks of the country.
The postal department has so far issued over 200 postal ATM cards in the state.
Mein seeks timely implementation of RIDF projects
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein has stressed on time bound implementation of the projects under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). He said this on Wednesday while reviewing the projects under RIDF Tranche-XXII for the year 2016-17 in the Conference Hall of the State Planning Department.
Mein said that the programmes under RIDF are time bound and it should be implemented timely. He suggested to the executing agencies to follow a yearly calendar for timely completion of the projects under RIDF and asked them to complete the projects by December, to submit DPR for next project by March so as to get sanction by June of every year.
Lamenting on delayed submission, he said that due to poor performance on the submission of DPR by the executing agencies, the state govt is losing fund allocation in successive years. He urged them to get the error corrected from this year onwards.
He also stressed on immediate submission of Project Completion Reports of the projects under RIDF tranche XIV and Utilization Certificates while asserting that due to non-submission of UC in time, the state govt is facing hurdles in getting fund from the centre.
He warned stern action against the dilly-dallying officers/staffs and in the same time, to appreciate and reward the efficient officers/staffs and also to reflect their performance in the ACR.
Mein directed the heads of executing agencies to start the works under RIDF 2016-17 immediately as the mobilization advance of Rs 39.63 Crore has been received for various projects. He further sough release of state share of previous year's projects in which 90-95% work has been completed so far.
DCM also mooted for uniform selection of beneficiaries from all the areas of the state instead of selection from a particular area and constituency for the schemes under the agriculture, horticulture and allied sectors.
Earlier, Secretary Planning, Dr Joram Beda informed that 57 numbers of projects amounting to Rs 568.60 crore is being taken up under RIDF 2016-17 in the state. He proposed for holding of review meeting every month for effective monitoring and implementation of the projects under RIDF. He also highlighted the project wise status and department wise list of RIDF ongoing projects in the state.
In the meeting, DCM also reviewed the NABARD sponsored projects of previous years, reimbursement status, fund placement/allocation and DPR submission of new projects. Among others, Parliamentary Secretary (Planning), Chow Zingnu Namchoom, Commissioner (Dev & Finance), Ashish Kundra, Commissioner (Horticulture), Bilatee Pertin, Deputy General Manager (NABARD), Binod Kumar, Chief Engineers of PWD, WRD, PHED, RWD and HoDs from Horticulture Department also attended the meeting.
New fish species discovered in Arunachal
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: A new fish species belonging to genus Physoschistura has been discovered from Lohit River in the easternmost part of the state at Walong under Anjaw district by a survey team of Arunachal Pradesh Regional Centre of the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), Itanagar recently.
Lakpa Tamang, who along with Dr. Bikramjit Sinha led the survey team, described the new species and designated the name as Physoschistura walongensis in remembrance of the area Walong.
Till date, Tamang has contributed 10 new species from various water bodies of Arunachal Pradesh and predicts existence of more new species in the remote areas of the State.
EKSWCO to take initiative on codification of customary laws
PIPU, Oct 26: The 38th Foundation day of East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organization (EKSWCO) concluded in a positive note here on Monday with adoption of five-point resolutions, including codification of existing customary laws of various communities of the district.
It was decided that the EKSWCO shall take up seriously for codifying the existing customary laws prevailing in various communities of the district. The deserted wife henceforth shall be given opportunity to approach the WWO and EKSWCO to place their grievances and to seek justice.
While considering the excessive number of mega dams allocated so far by the state government, the meeting decided to constitute an expertise committee to study the feasibilities of developing power project in the district and also to verify the implementation of central/state relief and rehabilitation policy.
It was also unanimously resolved to convene a meeting once in a year with the president and general secretaries of the village/clan based organization and decided that henceforth they shall all be affiliated as permanent ex-officio members of the EKSWCO.
All Village/Clan based organizations affiliation with EKSWCO shall be subject to the verification of their credibility and merits. Considering all illegal marriage as social evils, EKSWCO has denounced child and force marriage in toto and the bridal prices incurred for it shall not be refunded at any cost.
Like previous years, this year too, the five different tribes of state, who are already settled in East Kameng district, were present in the foundation day and exchanged their traditional attires with each other.
Prominent personalities from the districts were also feilcitated on the occasion that included Pooza Sonam Natung, Laxmi Dodum Sonam and Yakar Dawe Riang for clearing APCS, Sapna Tayem for journalism, Metung Yangfo, Jorjee Sonam, Nikam Tungi, Gandhi Lamgu for clearing MBBS, Mark Lingfa for IIT, Ashing Lamgu, Best Teacher Male and Mepung Dodum, Best Teacher Female)
Bantaram Gyadi, Paya Taku and Tania Pinche were also felicitated for their contribution in the field of art and culture, sports and social activities respectively.
The academic toppers felicitated by EKSWCO included Michael Kino, Jangrang Sonam and Meming Yangfo who were the first second and third toppers respectively in the science stream while in humanities Fango Mary Waii, Sona Tallang and Rita Tabri were felicitated for their academic excellence. In commerce Taluk Dara was felicitated.
EKSWCO chairman Khya Safar Pao in his keynote address stated that EKSWCO was initiating Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) in each village of the district to sensitize villagers about the cleanliness and hygienic life styles.
"EKSWCO is adopting cleanliness culture in every village of the district and accordingly more than 30 villages were covered during this Swachh Bharat Mission while 139 Panchayat segments are yet to be covered under this mission," informed Pao.
Resource persons for the event were Pai Dawe who spoke on the 'Retrospection of Clan/Area Based Organization for Social Change' while Mara Kocho highlighted the topic 'Development of Hydro-Power in East-Kameng district, Boon or Bane'.
Pooza Sonam Natung spoke on 'Status of Women in East Kameng district, problems and prospects.
Meanwhile, taking opportunity the Pipu Gyawepurang Social Organisation (PGSO) submitted five-point memorandum to the EKSWCO chairman, which included construction of road from Pipu to Amprang, re-alignment and widening of Pachi to Rigom NLCPR road, construction of road from Tagang Warrang to Lango Gollo via Dokre and Miri, water treatment plant and installation of telephone tower at Pipu.
Further, local MLA Karya Bagang submitted the annual report during the day-long foundation day programme.
PAC Team inspects infrastructure projects
PASIGHAT, Oct 26: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) headed by Chairman Kaling Moyong along with members Tesam Pongte and Olom Panyang on Wednesday visited various infrastructure projects at Yagrung, Arunachal State University Complex, outdoor sports stadium, DDSE office and Shiksha Sadan, Dura Korong Substation at Pasighat.
On being apprised by the ASM, Yangrung, Talom Mize, on the need for posting a regular CO and for construction of approach road to the office building, the Chairman PAC assured to take up the matter on both the issues adding that PAC will take up with Speaker for sanction of fund under SIDF /SADA.
In the meeting attended by the GBs and PRIs of Yagrung Village and HoDs of various departments, the DC, Isha Khosla in her address, informed that the tour of the PAC team has been conducted with the objective to inspect the progress of various projects and its benefits to the people.
Member Olom Panyang said that befitting infrastructure has been created for the office of the CO outpost for the benefit of the people of Yagrung. The team also inspected the Indoor Stadium constructed under SPA II-I2 and asked for its completion and to avoid further delay.
Visiting the site of the Arunachal State University, the Chairman PAC asked to start work of administrative block and one block of classrooms to facilitate running of 6 departments.
He also assured that the PAC will take up with the State Govt for sanction of Rs. 15 crore in SADA 2016-17 for starting the infrastructure works at the first phase.
Earlier, the Deputy Director Higher & Technical Education, A Jonkey accompanied by team of senior officers under H & TE, submitted the Status Report of Arunachal State University, Pasighat to the PAC team and projected the fund requirement for creation of proper infrastructure for the University. PG courses is running in History and Geography from academic session and Hindi from last academic session at JNC Pasighat and presently managing with faculties from JNC, Pasighat.
Later, the team also inspected the Shiksha Sadan and DDSE Office Building at 2-Mile. External Service connection at Shiksha Sadan and DDSE office is urgently required for functioning of the office, the PAC observed. The need for boundary wall at DDSE office was also noted.
The PAC team also inspected the under construction Outdoor Stadium at Pasighat funded under SPA which has been planned with sitting capacity of 12,000 person. The Project which commenced from 13-01-2016 has been given the target date of completion 12/01/2019. The Deputy Director, UD, PK Thungon, appraised the PAC on issues needed for resolving to ensure smooth progress of the Outdoor Stadium project. The PAC team also suggested DD (UD) to keep provision of power supply.
The PAC team assured to prepare a comprehensive report for submission to the Speaker.
On their way to Aalo, they also visited 2x5 MVA 132/33 KV Substation at Dura Korong. The Superintendent of Engineer for transmission, planning and monitoring Er. R Bado explained in detail about the Substation. They also inspected the progress of work for construction of 132 KV line from Aalo to Pasighat. The dead line given for completion for the project is December next.
Once this project is completed and commissioned all the districts under Siang belt including Anjaw and Dibang Valley districts will be getting quality and reliable power supply.

Taku Mama Daming first Air hostess from Kra Daadi
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Taku Mama Daming became the first woman from Kra Daadi district selected to be an air hostess.
A final year student of B.Sc. in Aviation, Trourism and Hospitality at Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, Mama was selected by Spice Jet in a random interview conducted at ITC Hotel, Dwarka and has successfully completed the two-month-long rigorous training as Trainee Cabin Crew and received her "wings" last week.
She has also been adjudged Best Groomed Trainee Cabin Crew in the course of the training and was made the Grooming-In-Charge of trainees.
Calling Taku Mama Daming, "a trend-setter and a role-model", Jathi Pulu, former Member, Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission and presently president of Don Bosco Alumni, exhorted the skill trainees of Don Bosco Youth Centre, Itanagar to "aim for the sky" and said, "Daming has literally achieved that."
He was speaking in a function organized by DBYC to felicitate Mama for becoming the first air hostess from Kra Daadi.
Exhorting the skill trainees present in the function, Yumlam Achung, Secretary, Don Bosco Alumni spoke on the necessity of emulating young achievers such as Mama who is a role-model for every young person of Arunachal, who wishes to come up in life the hard way.
Fr. Mathai, Parish Priest, Catholic Church, Itanagar, called upon the skill trainees present not to be worried about their background or village of origin, as the world is open to every hard-working youngster.
Although from very humble background and born in remote Bangte Village of Kra Dadi District, Mama made it in life by getting selected and trained as airhostess by Spice Jet.
She did her primary schooling from Don Bosco School, Palin and Secondary schooling from Don Bosco School, Jully and Senior Secondary from Government Higher Secondary School, Itanagar.
After completing a Diploma Course in Aviation and Hospitality from Frankfinn, Guwahati, Mama worked as Event Management Personnel at Maniram Trade Centre, Guwahati and Trainer for Soft Skills and Grooming at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Itanagar.
Mama attributes all her blessings to her sister Anju and brother-in-law Nangbia Tedi, who took the place of her parents as she lost her father before even she started going to school and as her mother didn't have the fortune of education.
CM likely to attend Kley River cleanup
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Chief Minister Pema Khandu is expected to attend the second Mission Clean Kley River (MCKR) to be organized in Ziro valley on November 13 and the 24th second Saturday mega social service at Hija village on Nov 12 next, according to a release issued by Apatani Youth Association (AYA).
The Association president Taku Chatung further informed that Lower Subansiri district administration has declared the 13th November as official local holiday of Ziro-I for mass participation to the Mission which is the part of the Clean Ziro Green Ziro initiative. “We are also making it as calendar year event of the Apatani community and expecting more participants in this year,” the Association said.
Under the initiative of AYA, the event was organized last year with record participation of more than 6000 people from all walk of life to clean the river Kley which is the lone river and lifeline of the Apatani Valley.
Meanwhile, All Hija Youth Association (AHYA) is going to complete two year of Second Saturday Social Service on 12lh November 2016 at Hija Village. They have been doing social service by cleaning Hija village every second Saturday of month on self-help basis and able to inculcate basic sense of cleanliness among the villagers.
Orgs back agitating teachers
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Various organizations, associations and students' unions have come in support of the agitating teachers urging the government to fulfill their long-pending demands.
The Education and Cultural Development Society (ECDS) urged the state government to invite the agitating teachers to the discussion table to sort out the problems instead of issuing order declaring their strike illegal.
Condemning the state government for not considering the demands of AASSATA, All Papum Pare District Students' Union (APPDSU) urged the government, particularly Education Minister to find a permanent solution amicably to the demands instead of compelling the teachers to go for stir.
Saying that the union has received complaints from various sections of the society that the on going strike is hampering the study of students, APPDSU has threatened to join/launch democratic movement in its own in support of the teachers, if the government does not formulate a proper mechanism as soon as possible to resolve the standoff.
Students' United Movement of All Arunachal (SUMAA) has appealed to the state Govt to pay heed to the demands of the agitating teachers in the greater interest of the student community of the state.
Expressing concern over the "No work, No Pay" policy imposed upon the agitating teachers, SUMAA said that Govt has aggravated the situation instead of normalizing it.
Condemning the state Govt for its inability to redress the long-pending demands of teaching community, the organization further said that regular classes of the students have been badly affected as thousands of teachers are reportedly abstaining from taking class due to agitation.
The democratic movement can not be suppressed by the way of threatening or termination, SUMAA added.
Arunachal Civil Society also appealed to the state government to fulfill the long pending demands of the SSA teachers, saying that the demands were very genuine.
Parl. Secy reviews road construction
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Parliamentary Secretary (WRD) Gum Tayeng undertook site inspection and reviewed the status of the construction of road from Aohali to Sisiri bridge point on Silluk -Dambuk Road of trans Arunachal highway on October 25.
She had a detailed discussion with the officials of the construction agency who briefed her on the status of the project.
The executing agency had informed that due to some departmental issues pertaining to the forest, the work has not yet started.
The agency, however, informed that if the work is started on time, they will be able to connect the road to the bridge point before the onset of monsoon.
The parliamentary secretary had assured to take up the matter with the concern authority for early start of the works so that the working time is not wasted.
Later, she visited the temporary road maintenance and construction of log bridges on Sisar River for free movement of men and vehicle during winter. She also visited the permanent bridge site which is almost completed.
Tayeng was accompanied by the ADC Dambuk, CO, Department heads, ZPM, PRI members, public leaders and the official of the construction agency.
DA to ensure 100% children's immunization in Lohit
TEZU, Oct 26: Lohit district administration has called upon stakeholders and parents to help ensure cent percent children's immunization in the district.
In this connection, Lohit Deputy Commissioner Danish Ashraf held a meeting with the gaon burahs of Tezu circle here on Wednesday and briefed them about the importance of immunization to ensure that children lead a healthy life.
Speaking about the isolated cases of families refusing to go for immunization, the DC said that this was due to misinformation and illogical fear.
"Superstitious beliefs must be eradicated so that children have an access to these life giving free services", he said.
In the meeting, it was decided to collect data of immunized children from each village in coordination with the gaon burahs and ASHA workers.
He urged the gaon burahs to take active participation in the day-to-day activities of their villages, calling them as the ground level representatives of the district administration.
All Arunachal Pradesh Gaon Burah Welfare Association general secretary Soloi Ngadong spoke at length about the various functions of gaon burahs.
He stressed on inculcating a spirit of personal interest and initiative by his colleagues to ensure smooth running of developmental works.
Speaking on the Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP)'s 5th youth festival to be held in Tezu, Ngadong sought cooperation from all walks of life.
The meeting was also attended by EAC Lui Shiba, DMO Dr. S Chai Pul and CO Une Pertin.
DC reviews implementation of schemes
AALO, Oct 26: West Siang Deputy Commissioner Gamli Padu reviewed the implementation of various schemes under RIDF, NRDP, SPA in West Siang district in a meeting attended by Chief Engineer (East Zone) and other departmental engineers on October 25.
While expressing happiness over implementation of many schemes by the Department of Public Health Engineering in many parts of the district, Padu stressed on drinking water facilities in few schools and villages where schemes have been launched but people are still facing drinking water problem.
He said that community and individual toilets under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan are confronted with lot of problems due to water scarcities. Even, Aalo town has been facing water problems due to growing population. Many of the water pipes are getting obsolete which need replacements, the DC said.
The DC stressed on shifting of pipe lines on the roadside where highway works are going on.
The Chief Engineer (East Zone) Tomo Basar stressed on realistic plan and effort by the department to mitigate the deficiencies and sought the support of District Administration and PRIs members and leaders to converge on limitations and shortcomings faced by the department.
Basar stressed on paid workforce in every village to look after the assets created in the district. He disclosed that a major water supply scheme for Aalo Township is placed before the government considering the problem here and hoped that govt. will consider it.
Zilla Parishad Chairperson Yaman Bagra also raised many issues and appealed to all departments to take the confidence of PRIs while implementing the schemes.

ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Scientists of KVK, Papum Pare conducted demonstration on scientific cultivation of pineapple at Lora-Belo village of Kimin circle under Agricultural Technology Management Agency (Yupia) sponsored programme.
Field demonstration on quality planting material selection, site selection and field preparation, plant spacing and weed management were conducted by the Subject Matter Specialists.
The Subject Matter Specialists (Agro.) and In-Charge Programme Coordinator Tadang Meena highlighted on various mandated activities of the KVK.
The scientists also highlighted on various issues pertaining to agriculture and allied sectors.
The importance of maintaining good health and hygiene practices, keeping the house and village surrounding neat clean to control vector borne diseases were also explained by the SMS in Home Science.
The programme concluded with distribution of garden tools to the participants.
The programme was participated GPM and GB of Lora-1, and the GPM of Belo.
Altogether 38 villager attended the programme.
The programme was conducted by Dr. Nabam Gama, Farm Manager.
All women mountaineering team scales two peaks
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: The all women mountaineering expedition team succeeded in ascending to the summit of two technical peaks in Arunachal Himalayas - Mt Gorichen East on October 18 at 8.30 am and an unnamed virgin Peak on October 21 at 8.30 am.
The team members led by Anshu Jamsenpa made the two peak summits in the course of one single expedition. They unfurled the National flag, Arunachal state logo and IMF flag on the top of these two 6000 mtr+ peaks.
However, their successful summit could not be conveyed earlier due to breakdown in communication system. It was only on Tuesday when the communication was restored through ITBP Post located at the remote Mago village in Tawang district.
The 10-member expedition team comprised of women mountaineers from West Bengal, Chandigarh, Sikkim, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and from home state Arunachal Pradesh with Anshu Jamsenpa as leader and Tine Mene as deputy leader.
The expedition team was flagged off by Chief Minister Pema Khandu from Itanagar on September 29.
Parliamentary Secretary Tourism cum Govt Spokesman Pasang Dorjee Sona conveyed his happiness, when he came to know about this mountaineering achievement by the women mountaineers.
Secretary Tourism & Planning Dr Joram Beda, Secretary Youth Affairs & Sports Dani Salu, Secretary to Governor Vinod P Kavle and Brigadier Surendra Prasad from Core GOC office Tezpur also congratulated the mountaineering team for the successful dual peak summit.
Tsering Wange, president Arunachal Mountaineering & Adventure Sports Association stated that growth in mountaineering activities in the state will not only lead to greater tourist inflow but also will provide employment to the local youths and lead to the over all development of the far flung regions.
The expedition was jointly organized by the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, Departments of Youth Affairs & Sports and Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) New Delhi, the national apex body for mountaineering expeditions in India.
Capital Cricket Club win T-20 cricket tourney
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Capital Cricket Club won the T-20 Capital Champion League Cricket Tournament, 2016 defeating Nirjuly Cricket Club by 15 runs in the final.
Capital Cricket Club, who opted to bat first after winning the toss, set NCC a target of 85 runs to win.
Chasing the target, NCC team bundled out for 75 in 20 over.
Momar Ori and Majahiden of CCC were adjudged as 'man' of the match and 'best' bowler respectively.
Man of the series title went to Sam Alam of CCC.
The tournament was organized by Capital Youth Organization (CYO).
BEMFT: Jummi Combats to meet Kabu SC in final
AALO, Oct 26: Jummi Combats FC Bene (JC FCB) will meet Kabu SC in the final of first Binga Ete Memorial Football Tournament, 2016 on Thursday.
High on confidence after it won all its league matches, the Bene based team will start as title favorites.
Though Kabu SC suffered a demoralizing defeat against Jummi Combats in the league stage can not be taken lightly.
"We know we (Kabu SC) haven't put our best foot forward in a few games in the league stage. Everyone is trying hard and is prepared for the final. We certainly are looking forward for a good final match tomorrow," said a Kabu SC fan.
The winner will take home a cash prize of Rs 1.25 lakhs and a trophy while the runner-up will be awarded Rs 75,000.
There are also individual prizes of Rs 10,000 each for the player of the tournament and highest scorer.
Additional coaches for Intercity Express
Maligaon, Oct 26: The Northeast Frontier Railway has attached four additional coaches in the Intercity Express train running between Guwahati and Naharlagun. There has been widespread demand for additional coaches to clear the rush of passenger. In a release railway informed that two AC 3-tier and two sleeper class coaches have been added with effect from Oct 25.
The attachment of these additional coaches will augment the capacity of the Intercity Express by another 544 berths.
Extortion in any form is illegal: DC
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar Singh said that extortion in any form from business community is illegal and appealed to the public to file case in the civil court if they come across any such cases.
The DC, who held a meeting with the police, security personnel and administrative officers to review the law and order situation as well as to discuss various issues pertaining to traffic management, illegal earth cutting and deforestation etc in the Capital Complex on Wednesday, directed the administrative officers to carry out regular drives to check the nuisance of dice, melas, etc and also to check the illegal selling of liquors in shops and gumtis.
Violators must be dealt sternly as per law, DC said.
Singh asked the administrative officers to liaise with the ADM Talo Potom to check the nuisance of piggeries and other stray animals. He directed the Circle Officer Bittu Kri to carry out a survey of all the piggeries in the Capital Complex so that a proper mechanism could be devised for their proper disposal.
Regarding the menace of drugs, the DC suggested that an awareness programme would be conducted at every school. He asked the administrative officers and the Police to coordinate and work together as a team for the successful conduct of the programme.
The DC directed the administrative officers and the police not allow any kind of illegal earth cutting in the Capital Complex.
SDPO Itanagar Techi Hanyir briefed the DC regarding the implementation of new traffic diversion route and enforcement of traffic rules.
MV checking is being carried out on daily basis along with night patrolling especially in all the vital locations in the Capital, the SDPO said, adding that a drop in the rate of drug menace can also be seen in the Capital Complex.
Capital SP Dr. A Koan informed that the Capital Police are on its toes 24x7 but suggested that proper road engineering is required for permanent solution to traffic woes.
Other officers also shared their feedback on the new traffic diversion route to which the DC assured that the traffic plan would be reviewed in some locations wherever necessary.

ASEF mourns death of a proud mother
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: The All Sagalee Employees' Forum [ASEF] condoled the death of Techi Mumpa of Khemlee Village of Sagalee Sub Division under Papum Pare district in the intervening night of October 25 and 26th at Khemlee Village due to old age.
She was wife of late Techi Kuli and proud mother of the State's first Master of Commerce (M.Com) degree holder Tedi Techi, state's senior most forensic MD and Vice President of ASEF Dr. Techi Rekhi, RWD Executive Engineer Techi Jobae and Agricultural Divisional Officer Techi Toura. She took keen interest in education of her children.
She left behind her 5 sons and 23 grand children.
ASEF conveyed its heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed to almighty to give them strength to bear the irreparable loss.
State level Shito -Ryu Karate- Do Championship
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Over 300 karatekas and 30 officials from across the state are participating in the 5th State Shito -Ryu Karate- Do Championship, which began at Multipurpose Indoor Stadium, Hawai, Anjaw on October 24.
The inaugural function was attended by Executive Engineer Gumto Ete, DSO BC Das and Advocate Hajuli Pulu, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Ete explained the importance and scope in sports, particularly karate. He appreciated organizer All Anjaw Karate Do Association (AAKA) for their excellence services in the development of karate and carrying out drugs awareness campaigned through sports.
Das also delivered few pieces of advice to the karatekas and mentioned the importance of Games and Sports in out life.
ASKA president Dr. Marli Ete highlighted the aim and objective of the championship and also achievement of ASKA in the last 16 years in the state.
AAKA president Bredenso Yun, AMDO, who gave the welcome address, explained the difficulties faced to organizer due to imposition of election Model Code of Conduct.
The opening ceremony was also attended by AOA vice president and ASKA technical director Sensei Bulang Marik, General Secretary, Referee Commission (NESKF) from Manipur Sensei Tala Ahmed,, HoDs of Anjaw district and local public.

BJYM team meet Anurag Thakur
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: The Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Arunachal Pradesh unit headed by its President Taring Tiri along with National Executive Member BJYM Nani Opo and Secretary State BJYM Joram Tat called on the national President BJYM cum BCCI president Anurag Thakur. The State BJYM team briefed about activities carried out by the state BJYM in recent months and submitted list of new executive members of BJYM, Arunachal Pradesh to Thakur.

BJP delegation at tribal carnival
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated first National Tribal Carnival in New Delhi yesterday. The State ST Morcha President of BJP Hinium Tachu along with 415 delegates attended the programme.
The event organizer, the Tribal Ministry said, the idea of organizing the Carnival is to preserve and promote various facets of the tribal life relating to culture, tradition, customs and their skills. More than 1600 tribal artists and around eight thousand tribal delegates from across the country have taken part in the carnival.
JNC workshop on Career counseling

Eric Martin show postponed
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: The organizer of proposed Eric Martin show has informed that due to unavoidable circumstances, the show in Itanagar has been postponed. In a press statement organizer informed that due to visa issue, Eric Martin, who was supposed to land in India on Oct 26, will now land on Oct 28 leading to postponing of Itanagar show. However, the organizers are working on new dates and will announce the rescheduled dates as soon as possible.
They further informed that all tickets which have already been purchased for the show will be valid for the rescheduled date.
Minister urged to take up college establishment issue
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: The Papum Pare district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary, Techi Tempo has in a letter to the state Minister for Education & Libraries, Honchun Ngandam on Wednesday, appealed to him to take up the issue of establishment of the proposed Women's College at Poma village in Papum Pare district with the GoAP at the earliest.
The people of the area supported the project and have already donated land for the purpose, he claimed.
Society condemns attempt to rape
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Strongly condemning the alleged attempt to rape and murder of a woman in Gohpur by one Sorang Babung, the Rebe Welfare Society (RWS) has in a release on Wednesday, sought stringent punishment for him as per the law.
The RWS claimed that the woman, a widow and mother of three children is a native of Rebe village in Chayangtajo, was allegedly attacked by Babung at her home on the night of Oct 25 while she was asleep.
Claiming that Babung is a habitual offender, the Society has further appealed to the law enforcing authorities to ensure that he is not granted bail and is booked under stringent sections of the IPC.
DC's transferred demanded
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Arunachal Youth Organisation ( AYO) has appealed the chief secretary to transfer the Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner within ten days.
In a complaint letter to the CS, the AYO said that the DC did not meet the delegation of the organization even though they waited for several hours on Oct 24. Even after submission of written application for audience, the delegation could not meet him the next day, the organization claimed.
"We believe, a DC being a public servant should pay heed to the public voice and grievances," the organization said.
NCP conference rescheduled
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: The State NCP has rescheduled the Nationalist Women Congress Conference (NWCC) on October 30 at Itanagar, which was earlier fixed on October 25. However, all the programmes of the conference will remain unchanged.
Meanwhile, State NCP president Gicho Kabak and vice president Nima Sange rushed to New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss about the political matter of Arunachal Pradesh.

ITANAGAR, Oct 26: State Executive and senior member of BJP Banem Kri, who is interested to contest in the ensuing Bye-election to Hayuliang Constituency, appealed to the party high command to issue the ticket to senior leader only, failing which he has threatened to launch hunger strike unto death.
Clarification
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Reacting to a news under heading "Govt. sanctions fund for infrastructure development of IGC", which was published in this daily on October 26, the State's Director of Industries has clarified that State Government through Department of Industries has sanctioned Rs 5.40 crore under SADA-2015-16 for Industrial Growth Centre, Niglok.
The amount was wrongly published as Rs 4.85 crores in the news item.
Free medical camps by AVP
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Changlang district unit of Arunachal Vikas Parishad (AVP) organized a series of free medical camps in various circles of the district from October 20 to 25.
The camps were organized at remote Longpha, Kongsa, Chimsu, Lunglong, Yatdam, Khuchep, Chokdok, Renuk, Tengman, Rima, Tikhak Taipi, Old Chumpo and New Longkey villages under various circles of the district. Around 1000 patients have benefited from the camps. The medical camps were conducted by a team of doctors, who included Dr.Anil Joshi, Dr. Joshi Jyoti, Dr. Vijay Rangnathrao Deshpande, and Sunanda Vijay Deshpanpande from Maharashtra, Dr. RB Mishra, State Health in-Charge AVP, Dr. Pukam Tangha, MO of CHC Manmao and Dr. Munlop Jongsam, MO, District Hospital Changlang cum District Health in charge AVP.

Taking serious note of this new ranking Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked all
the Secretaries of the Central Government and States' Chief Secretaries to study
the World Bank's report on Ease of Doing Business and analyze the areas where there
is a scope for improvement. He also asked for a report from all the concerned within
a month and directed the Cabinet Secretary to review the same thereafter. The government
of Arunachal should also take steps to improve the ease of doing business. In 2015
Arunachal Pradesh took bottom place in ease of doing business in a survey sponsored
by the department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP). Hopefully Chief Secretary
of Arunachal will properly study World Bank's report on Ease of Doing Business and
find out where our state government is making mistake. Arunachal desperately need

Humanity getting buried
Dear Editor,
The pain of life and the struggle will always haunt us. The world is changing everyday with cruel stories death and destruction across the planet and often I feel that humanity is getting lost being buried under such monumental load of selfishness, hatred and incessant fights with one another. I was wondering how to get out of that for our long term, peaceful survival as we cannot perish when we wish and save us from going through this detrimental pain in all the human societies across the world. Hence the only way to fight against this adverse world and the only way to that is to put everything under the wheel to move forward that one has to offer the world. The golden words of Mahatma Gandhi, “Be the change you want to see in the world” has turned ever important for our humanitarian existence. We are both struggling and have come so far and we have to take our struggle forward. Being separated by thousands of miles; but yet connected through modern innovations of communication we have to keep rolling this stone down the hill to reach some destinations in life. It is important that we not care what the world tells us or how one is being criticized; but move forward with our work and duties towards the broader society without any fear and expectation. There is very little to expect from others in spite of our best dedicated services or help towards them. We are bound by our duties and should continue to contribute in all positive manners to the societies in which we are living for the betterment of the society, people and for ourselves even in the darkest hours of our contemporary history impacting global and regional humanity.
